Social Events

Some of the best memories you will make in a sorority come during social events. Of course scholarship, leadership, and service are hugely important, but when we allow ourselves to relax in the company of the girls we call sisters, every event becomes amazing. Delta Iota is proud of the many things we accomplish, so why not celebrate them?

Each semester, Delta Iota has many socials and date nights. The most exciting every year, however, are always Semiformal, Hayride, and Formal. Semiformal gives us a chance to invite guys out on the town with our sisters while offering us an excuse to dress up in killer heels and a fabulous dress. Hayride is our favorite fall date night--we take buses out to a field where we gather with friends around the campfire, listen to great music, and actually go on a hayride (crazy, right?). Formal definitely is one of the best parts of being in a social sorority. This year, we had our Golden Anchor Ball at Constance Manor, a gorgeous old southern home in Winder. It was a wonderful chance to honor our seniors, present our new members, dance, and have a ridiculously awesome time.

As for socials and other date nights, we have so many themes that it becomes a favorite tradition of women to raid the social closet in search of that perfect accessory to complete an outfit. From suspenders to school girl skirts, that closet is out of control. Most Thursday nights, you can find our women getting ready together and sharing stories from the week before heading to the socials. Some themes from this past semester have been "Mathletes vs. Athletes", "Kiss me, I'm Irish" for St. Patrick's day, "Playdate- Kindergarden Style", and "Cowboys and Indians." We also had a "Famous Couples" date night where sisters and their dates had a chance to show their creativity and sense of humor. Braves and Hawks date nights are always popular as well.
